UK energy-environment-economy forecasts

How will the service support me and my business?

You may be an established major energy supplier, or a new entrant to the UK energy market, a policy maker, or someone who just needs to keep abreast of the latest energy/environment thinking. You may already have access to in-house forecasts or government projections. The UK E3 service provides you with unrivalled independent analysis of the highest quality to support your decisions.

As a subscriber to the Service you receive access to our Knowledge Base website with analysis and forecasts (updated twice a year) of economic activity, energy consumption and emissions of CO2 and SO2, backed up by in-depth commentary provided by our own sector experts and other specialists.

In addition subscribers can download tables and charts directly from the Knowledge Base. Detailed data and forecasts can be downloaded in csv format. The Executive Summary and the detailed forecast tables are brought together as a short report in pdf format that can also be downloaded by subscribers.

As well as being fully-integrated, the economic and energy forecasts are comprehensive, covering 25 fuel users and 11 fuel types, linked to the activities of households and 41 separate industries. Email, telephone and website access are all available to support subscribers in their in-house use of the analysis. Risks and uncertainties are highlighted in scenarios and a comparison of our views with other published forecasts.

We work with our club of subscribers over long periods, implementing new developments according to their needs. As part of the Service, we provide a presentation meeting at your premises, available to any of your personnel, with the content tailored to your needs.

We also provide analysis on topics of current interest such as: UK options for meeting future carbon emission constraints; a carbon tax to reduce the UK's fiscal deficit; the possible economic and environmental effects of a large-scale green fiscal reform in the UK. The impact of the Climate Change Levy on business. How could investment in renewables or energy efficiency be stimulated? Will the UK meet its legally-binding renewables and carbon reduction targets by 2020? What will be the impact of the 2008-09 economic recession on UK carbon budgets? How will gas and electricity demand by final users be affected if the UK economy experiences a sluggish recovery following a deep recession ? What are the macro-economic and environmental impacts of the three five year carbon targets that will cover UK CO2 emissions to 2022? The impact of Global Warming on UK energy demand.

Topics for ongoing analysis will include international aspects of energy market reform, the environmental impacts of transport policy and the development of non-carbon technologies in UK power generation.
