Economic Prospects for the Nations and Regions of the UK

How do I access the information?

Knowledge Base

Our regular economic forecasts are presented twice a year (in February and July) in easy-to-read tabular and graphical form in our Knowledge Base website (see user guide): The Knowledge Base incorporates powerful search facilities that enable subscribers to target precisely the information that they need from the Economic Prospects for the Nations and Regions of the UK. The Knowledge Base contains in-depth commentary to explain the forecast and highlight major themes of contemporary relevance.

The structure of the Knowledge Base and the selection of tables has evolved to match the needs of our subscribers. The Knowledge Base is divided into three parts:

  • The forecast overview with chapters on the UK context, an overview of the UK regional forecast, a focus on investment trends, and an analysis at the level of counties.
  • The regions in detail, with text, charts and tables to analyse and interpret the prospects for the 12 UK counties/regions distinguished in the report.

  • The main tables giving the full detail in a consistent format making it easy to compare the performance of the regions for a given sector or of the various sectors in a given region. Detailed data and forecasts are also provided for the UK as a benchmark for the regions.

An abridged version of the Economic Prospects for the Nations and Regions of the UK is also provided, suitable for circulation to colleagues who only require an overview.

Sample from a recent edition of the abridged report (58kb)

The forecasts are also available in a hard-copy reference report Economic Prospects for the Nations and Regions of the UK (table of contents). The data are available in spreadsheet format.

Subscribers can download the reports as pdf files, and the data and forecasts in csv format.

Presentations

Subscribers are offered a presentation at their premises during which the findings of economic analysis and the regional economic forecasts are presented and discussed. These meetings offer a forum for discussion at which subscribers are invited to contribute their views and opinions following presentations from CE's staff.

Access to the UK Regional Databank

Subscribers have access to our detailed information held in the regional databank and receive this information in electronic format. This important feature of the service allows subscribers to examine the relationship between the regional economic data and their own data measuring business performance.

Support

We provide telephone and email support for discussion of any aspect of the forecasts or reports. We are also available to offer support when subscribers face unexpected requests, drawing on the full range of all our economic forecasting services.
